We’ve had a great month on the road, all washed down with some motorbikes, art, and french wine courtesy of Wheels and Waves.
We descended on the fashionable resort of Biarritz, France for third running of the ‘Wheels and Waves’ festival, hosted by the Southsiders Motorcycle Club. The Atlantic Ocean provided an awesome backdrop to the event, with the beach a short step to the surf for those whose passion is riding the waves.
Friday saw riders leave in groups up into the picturesque Basque mountains to the top of the Jaizkibel summit for the ‘Punks Peak’ race, an epic head to head up the hill. Riders rocked up with open face helmets, redwings, some just in t-shirts and jeans.
The riders race two by two against each other in the knockout contest, which we watched by the starting line with our camera. Street racing as in its purest form, with a nice mix of competitors included in the challenge!
Wheels and Waves is an event that will no doubt attract commercial support, and we are sure it will outgrow its Lighthouse base which we were lucky enough to be part of.
Peace and thanks to all our new friends who we met through this brilliant event!
