NORMAN WALSH | FELL RUNNING

A Story of British Craftsmanship & Athletic Footwear Heritage

Made In England

Serving his apprenticeship after leaving school at the age 14, Norman Walsh started to make elite athletes shoes for J.W Foster in Bolton in 1898; later becoming Reebok in 1958. A few years later Norman left to set up his own company Norman Walsh UK. The rest is Fell Running history.

Idea

An ongoing collaboration between photographer David Goldman, Tim Walker and Norman Walsh. What began life as a short documentary and photo journal has now become a full blown documentary, detailing the story of Walsh and it’s connection with the high octane endurance sport of Fell running. The project also explores relationships between the runners that take on the harsh, yet beautiful fell and uplands of Great Britain.

Result

The film will be released in conjunction with an exhibition and photobook. A sneak preview of the project can be seen at McCann London from June 1st, running for two months.
